It conveys the hardships of relationships between not only Savannah and John but John and his father. Dear John shows that not everything in life is easy and there will always be struggles, and what is meant to be will last forever and what is not will fade out eventually. This type of situation can happen to many people. Although the storyline was predictable, the events were very relatable. It is narrated by John Tyree, the main character or protagonist. Nicholas Sparks did an amazing job of bringing the characters to life.
